MISSION OF MAGIC

Mission:

The purpose of MAGIC is to promote Quality Care through Advocacy and Education for Aging Adults and Persons with Complex Health Needs throughout Minnesota.

Vision:

MAGIC is the Recognized, Prominent and Respected Leader for Aging Adults and those with Complex Health Needs.

History:

The Minnesota Association of Geriatrics Inspired Clinicians (MAGIC) is a membership organization whose purpose is to support its members as they advocate for, and serve those, with complex medical needs. Its predecessor organization, the Minnesota Medical Directors Association, was founded in 1978. MAGIC was created in 2017 as an organization with broader membership and in response to the changing paradigm of care for older, and medically complex, persons.

 MAGIC is pleased to share some accomplishments:  

• Created Influenza Protocol and shared with our clinicians and provider partners
• Created a Video with recommended steps for facility nurses when starting a POLST with patients
• Created a video highlighting the benefits of a receiving the COVID vaccine
• Updated the annual Standing orders for SNF’s and shared with our clinicians and provider partners
• Held a successful annual conference with discussions on COVID, anti-ageism, diabetes management, public policy and more
• Executive Director of MAGIC and members of the MAGIC Board serve on the Minnesota Leadership Council on Aging Board of Directors
• MAGIC partners with the Minnesota Geriatric ECHO
