Help build the geriatric workforce by becoming involved in the University of Minnesota's Geriatric Case Competition!
This autumn we are hosting a university wide geriatric case competition for health science students. We would love for community experts to participate as a coach. The time commitment is 6 hours, and all activities are virtual/online.
Serve as a Coach:
Coach Orientation Tues 9/26, 5-6 PM online, live
Team Orientation Mon 10/02, 5-6 PM online, live
Team meetings between 10/2 - 11/14, scheduled with your team
The Interprofessional Geriatric Case Competition provides an interprofessional learning opportunity for teams of undergraduate and graduate students from different disciplines to gain simulated experience in creating a care plan for a complex older patient with multiple chronic health conditions. Students will be placed in an interprofessional team supported by a faculty or community expert coach and work together over a month to create and present an innovative 25-minute case presentation. Expert judges review and score the presentations in late October. The competition will be September 26-through early November, 2023. We are grateful for sponsorship from MAGIC, who supports the prizes for student participants.
